I am a walker and a jogger. Every day of my life I run and walk. I also have a bicycle which I ride for miles at a time. I swim. I play tennis. And three times a week I take my progressive weight training workout using dumbbells and barbells of various weights. Exercise is the greatest single factor available to man to remove the blockage and clogging in the arteries and other blood vessels and to increase the greater flow of oxygen-en, ricked blood in and through the heart and body.
DEVELOP STRENGTH FROM THE INSIDE OUT, NOT FROM THE OUTSIDE IN
Remember that from the day you were born to the day you die, your 600 muscles play an important role in everything you do… more than half your body is sheer muscle. It isn’t the muscles that you see that comet as much as those you don’t see. Along the 30 feet of your gastrointestinal tract them are muscles to force food along this 30-foot tube. To bring an adequate amount of air into your ‘,Mgr requires strong muscles. And above all, the greatest muscle—seen or lumen—in your body is the HEART.
It is the heart that pumps the blood supply into the body’s 600 muscles … and the mom we bring these 600 muscles into play, the better our heart, the better our circulation, the better our physical condition, and the better our entire state of health will be. Without hesitation I tell you that brisk walking is the best form of exercise. You must become a prodigious pedestrian if you want to be strong from the inside out.
WALKING—THE “KING” OF EXERCISE
Of all forms of exercise brisk walking is the one that brings most of the body into action. As you walk, grasp yourself in the small of the beck and feel bow the entire frame responds to every stride … how almost all your chief murder are functioning rhythmically. In no other exercise do you get the same harmony of coordinating sinews, the same perfect circulation of the blood.
Brisk walking is the “king” of exercise, ideal for you … and your heart!
You should try to walk 3 to 5 miles every day, and be capable of doubling it, Don’t give yourself excuser, Make your daily walk a find item in your Heart Fitness Program—all the year around and in any kind of weather. Walking requires no special equipment, and it can be done any time during your waking hours.
Regardless of what other exercise you may take, your daily walk is a “must!” Walking can be done by anyone, anytime, anywhere. Of course, you may take it in the from of golf, if you enjoy this social sport.
But you must never, never ride around the golf course in an electric cart! This makes a farce of the whole thing. Walking is what your heart needs. Although I am inclined to agree with Mark Twain, who mid, “Golf is a good way to spoil a good walk” … if it takes the game to make you walk, by all means do so.
The result is the same—healthily functioning muscles and quickened blood circulation with its attendant sense of harmony and happiness. Although preferable outdoors, indoor walking is far better than none at all—in your hallways op ypirrcOgrach or wherever
